Monica De La Cruz, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 15th district, shared updates on local developments and community events through a series of tweets. Having replaced Vicente Gonzalez in 2023, De La Cruz continues to engage with her constituents by addressing issues such as flood damage and celebrating local business milestones.
On July 10, 2025, De La Cruz alerted residents of Guadalupe County about recent severe flooding. She urged those affected to report any damage incurred in order to help secure necessary state and federal aid. In her tweet, she stated: “Attention Guadalupe County residents! If you experienced damage during the recent severe flooding, the county is requesting that residents report damage to help secure state and federal aid.”
Later that day, she announced the opening of a new small business in McAllen. Celebrating the addition of A Todo Mar to the community, De La Cruz mentioned her participation in the ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside restaurant owner Ruben Mendez and his family. Her tweet read: “A new addition to McAllen’s small business community – A Todo Mar – has officially opened its doors! My TX-15 team was proud to join restaurant owner Ruben Mendez, his family, and the @CityofMcAllen Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the ribbon cutting of this new seafood eatery.”
In another event highlighted on July 10, 2025, De La Cruz expressed support for Windsor Nursing and Rehab’s newly remodeled facility in Edinburg. She attended their ribbon-cutting ceremony along with members of the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce. Her message was: “Windsor Nursing and Rehab recently celebrated a ribbon cutting for their newly remodeled facility alongside the @EdinburgChamber of Commerce. My team was glad to attend and show support for the essential healthcare services they provide to our seniors.”
De La Cruz was born in Brownsville, Texas in 1974 and currently resides in McAllen. She holds a BBS from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
