On April 9, 2025, Rep. De La Cruz introduced an intern, Pedro, from the Valley. Pedro, who attended the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), provided essential local knowledge and experience to the congresswoman’s team. He played a critical role as an Army ROTC Cadet by navigating Veterans Affairs and summarizing Armed Services briefings. According to De La Cruz, Pedro’s contributions were highly valued, as seen in this tweet.

The following day, Rep. De La Cruz extended birthday wishes to the Secretary of Agriculture, Sec. Rollins, acknowledging her leadership and dedication. Posted on April 10, 2025, her tweet praised Sec. Rollins for her inspiring commitment to rural America and her efforts to support farmers and ranchers. Monica De La Cruz has served in Congress since 2023, after succeeding Vicente Gonzalez. Born in Brownsville, Texas, in 1974, she currently resides in McAllen. De La Cruz graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Business Studies.
