On June 5th, Rep. De La Cruz issued a reminder to farmers and producers in South Texas about the closing deadline for emergency aid applications. She emphasized the importance of this funding for supporting the agricultural industry and ensuring food security: “Attention STX Farmers and Producers! The application for the emergency aid I secured closes today, June 5th, at 11:59 p.m. This funding is critical to support our agricultural industry and keep food on the table.”

Later that day, she provided an update regarding water delivery agreements with Mexico. She detailed actions taken by the Mexican government following a secured water deal: “MAY WATER DELIVERY UPDATE Since securing the water deal, the Mexican government: •Made an immediate transfer of water at Amistad Dam •Agreed to two additional deliveries at international reservoirs at the Amistad and Falcon Dams •Increased the U.S. share of the flows.”

Additionally, Rep. De La Cruz congratulated Kate Horan, Director of McAllen Library, for receiving a prestigious award from the Texas Library Association: “Congratulations to Kate Horan, the Director of @mcallenlibrary, on receiving the Texas Library Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award.” Under Horan’s leadership, McAllen Library has expanded its role beyond traditional book lending to include vital community programs.

Monica De La Cruz was born in Brownsville, Texas in 1974 and resides in McAllen. She graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS).
