Rep. Monica De La Cruz, a U.S. Congress member representing Texas’ 15th district since 2023, shared updates on her recent activities and thoughts through a series of tweets. Born in Brownsville, Texas, in 1974 and currently residing in McAllen, De La Cruz graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a BBS.

On January 22, 2025, Rep. De La Cruz announced the progress of the Laken Riley Act via Twitter: “The Laken Riley Act passed through the Senate with bipartisan support and today passed through the House, solidifying our commitment to protecting American communities by detaining criminal illegal immigrants, regardless of the severity of the crime.”

Later that day, she expressed her pleasure at meeting a fellow Texan over the weekend: “It was great running into a fellow Texan,@DrBuckinghamTX, this past weekend!”

On January 23, 2025, Rep. De La Cruz extended her sympathies towards law enforcement officers in San Antonio: “My thoughts and prayers are with San Antonio law enforcement officers and their families this morning.”
