Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz (R-TX) has introduced the Pay Our Border Patrol and Customs Agents Act in advance of the September 30 government funding deadline. The bill aims to guarantee that U.S. Border Patrol Agents and Office of Field Operations Officers receive their pay during a possible government shutdown in fiscal year 2026.

The legislation is co-sponsored by Representatives Claudia Tenney (NY-24), Derrick Van Orden (WI-03), Jimmy Patronis (FL-01), Russell Fry (SC-07), and Ashley Hinson (IA-02).

“The Pay Our Border Patrol and Customs Agents Act is vital to ensuring our dedicated Border Patrol Agents continue to be paid regardless of a government shutdown. They work tirelessly to protect our communities, and we cannot let politics jeopardize their hard-earned paycheck,” said Congresswoman De La Cruz.

The current Continuing Resolution, which provides temporary government funding, will expire on September 30, 2025. If a lapse in funding occurs, the proposed act would ensure uninterrupted pay for border enforcement personnel during fiscal year 2026.

Monica De La Cruz represents Texas’ 15th congressional district after replacing Vicente Gonzalez in 2023. She secured her seat by defeating Michelle Vallejo in both the 2022 and 2024 general elections.
