Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz, who represents Texas’ 15th district in the U.S. House of Representatives, issued a statement after the federal government experienced a funding lapse beginning at midnight on October 1, 2025.
“I voted to extend government funding at its current levels. Democrats have supported this in the past, but instead chose to play political games, block the clean continuing resolution, and shut our government down. They are wasting taxpayer dollars and letting Border Patrol Agents, troops, and federal workers go without paychecks. It’s unacceptable. Our government needs to reopen and get back to work for all Americans.” – Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz
According to information provided by her office, De La Cruz voted on September 19 in favor of a continuing resolution that would have extended funding through November 21, 2025. The measure did not pass the Senate, resulting in the current shutdown.
Despite the shutdown, De La Cruz stated that both her Washington, DC and district offices will remain open and available to assist constituents during this period.
Monica De La Cruz has served as the representative for Texas’ 15th district since replacing Vicente Gonzalez in 2023. In previous elections, she won against Michelle Vallejo in both 2022 and 2024.
