Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz of Texas’ 15th District announced that her bipartisan bill, the Disabled Veterans Housing Support Act, has passed the Senate. The measure aims to exclude VA service-connected disability income from being counted when determining eligibility for assistance under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program.

The legislation was led in the Senate by Senators Mike Crapo and Jack Reed. In a statement, Congresswoman De La Cruz said, “I am proud to work to bring this critical legislation across the finish line and send it to the President’s desk to become law. Though we can never repay our Veterans for their service and sacrifice, we can show our gratitude by removing the bureaucratic obstacles that stand in the way of housing support.”

Monica De La Cruz currently serves as a member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 15th district, having replaced Vicente Gonzalez in 2023. She has secured election victories over Michelle Vallejo in both 2022 and 2024.
