Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz of Texas’ 15th district announced her support for the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act after voting in favor of the measure. The legislation aims to address health care costs by expanding options for families and small businesses, as well as increasing transparency in prescription drug pricing.
In a statement, De La Cruz said, “Today’s vote is a step in the right direction to bring down premium costs, expand choice, and require price transparency for prescription drugs. Alongside members on both sides of the aisle, I will continue our fight to ensure that every family in our community has the peace of mind that comes with accessible, affordable health care.”
The act proposes several measures. It seeks to give families more control over their healthcare spending by expanding Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs). The bill also requires pharmacy benefit managers to be transparent about prescription drug costs. For small businesses and self-employed individuals, it expands Association Health Plans so they can access more choices and potentially lower rates.
Monica De La Cruz began serving in Congress representing Texas’ 15th district after replacing Vicente Gonzalez in 2023. She won her seat by defeating Michelle Vallejo in both the 2022 and 2024 general elections.
