U.S. Representative Monica De La Cruz, who represents Texas’ 15th district in Congress, addressed a range of issues on October 7, 2025, through a series of social media posts. De La Cruz commented on the ongoing government shutdown and reiterated her support for U.S. military personnel and for Israel.

On the seventh day of a government shutdown, De La Cruz posted: “Democrat Shutdown Day 7. Let’s get back to work for the American people.” (October 7, 2025).

Later that same day, she marked the anniversary of an attack in Israel by stating: “Two years ago, Hamas terrorists carried out a brutal, heart-wrenching assault on Israel. Today, we honor the memory of the innocent lives lost, stand with the survivors, and reaffirm our call to bring all hostages home. I will always stand with Israel and their right to defend” (October 7, 2025).

De La Cruz also expressed concern for U.S. military personnel affected by the shutdown: “Even during the Democrat-led shutdown, our troops should receive their pay without interruption. I’m supporting @RepJenKiggans’ Pay Our Troops Act to make sure our brave servicemen and women have the certainty that their paychecks will arrive on time, so they can continue to” (October 7, 2025).

De La Cruz began representing Texas’ 15th district in Congress in 2023 after succeeding Vicente Gonzalez. She secured her seat by defeating Michelle Vallejo in both the 2022 and 2024 general elections.
