In her first post, De La Cruz highlighted the ongoing challenges Texans face regarding healthcare access, emphasizing the role of local centers. On September 30, she wrote, “Limited access to health care is a challenge facing many Texans. Border Patrol Agents in South Texas will continue to show up for work and protect our communities. My bill will make sure they’re still getting their paychecks even if the Democrats shut the government down.”
De La Cruz has served in Congress since 2023 after replacing Vicente Gonzalez. She secured her seat by defeating Michelle Vallejo in both the 2022 and 2024 general elections, with victories of 53.3% and 57.1% of the vote, respectively.
