U.S. Representative Monica De La Cruz, who serves Texas’ 15th district, announced the delivery of $280 million in emergency aid to South Texas farmers and ranchers through a series of posts on her official social media account.
On July 21, 2025, De La Cruz posted: “$280 Million delivered to South Texas farmers and ranchers! Proud to announce the delivery of emergency aid funding under the 1944 Water Treaty Agriculture Assistance Program. We will continue to work with @BrookeLRollins and @MillerForTexas to support Texas farmers.”
Later that day, she highlighted progress on a related policy initiative: “My Bracero Program 2.0 continues to gain momentum as it garners support from crucial Texas ag leaders!”
On July 22, De La Cruz reiterated the significance of the aid package: “ICYMI: The $280 million I secured in emergency aid for South Texas farmers and ranchers is being delivered this week. The funds are just the first step in our work to support our farmers and ranchers.”
De La Cruz has represented Texas’s 15th District in Congress since 2023, succeeding Vicente Gonzalez. She was born in Brownsville, Texas in 1974 and currently resides in McAllen. De La Cruz holds a Bachelor of Business Studies degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
The emergency funding referenced by De La Cruz comes under the framework of the 1944 Water Treaty Agriculture Assistance Program, which addresses agricultural needs tied to water resource management between the United States and Mexico.
