Rep. Monica De La Cruz, a U.S. Congress member representing Texas’ 15th district since 2023, shared her involvement in local community and policy discussions through a series of tweets on June 17, 2025.

In her first tweet, De La Cruz highlighted the growth of North McAllen by attending a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Mousai Fine Dining. She expressed enthusiasm about new businesses invigorating the area: “North McAllen continues to grow, and my team was proud to join the @McAllenChamber of Commerce for the ribbon cutting of Mousai Fine Dining. It’s exciting to see new shops and restaurants bringing energy and opportunity to our community.” The restaurant is located at 1200 Auburn Ave suite 320.

Later that day, she met with representatives from Bread for the World and Sister Norma Pimentel to discuss food insecurity issues in South Texas. De La Cruz stated: “It was great to meet with @bread4theworld and Sister Norma to discuss hunger, nutrition, and ways we can support families facing food insecurity in South Texas.”

De La Cruz also engaged with the Rio Grande Valley Builders Association regarding housing priorities. She discussed her efforts as Vice Chair of the Housing and Insurance Subcommittee in Congress: “I enjoyed my time with Rio Grande Valley Builders Association discussing housing priorities for the Valley and my work to find affordable housing solutions as Vice Chair of the Housing and Insurance Subcommittee in Congress.”

Monica De La Cruz, born in Brownsville, Texas in 1974, currently resides in McAllen. She holds a Bachelor of Business Studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
