Rep. Monica De La Cruz, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 15th district, has shared several updates on her legislative activities and priorities through social media. De La Cruz, who succeeded Vicente Gonzalez in 2023, was born in Brownsville, Texas, and resides in McAllen.

On January 23, 2025, De La Cruz posted about a meeting with John Byrum, Executive Director of the Nueces River Authority. She stated that her legislative team discussed potential collaboration to support upcoming water infrastructure projects. “My legislative team met with John Byrum, the Executive Director of the Nueces River Authority, to discuss how we can work together to support upcoming water infrastructure projects.”

In a tweet dated January 24, 2025, De La Cruz emphasized her commitment to ensuring compliance with the 1944 Water Treaty by Mexico. She expressed optimism following a nomination hearing for Brooke L. Rollins as Secretary and noted Rollins’ potential role in advocating for South Texas agriculture. “Ensuring Mexico complies with the 1944 Water Treaty is my top priority. Following her nomination hearing today, I am encouraged that soon-to-be Secretary @BrookeLRollins will be a leader in advocating for South Texas agriculture and ensuring our farmers can access the resources…”

Additionally, on January 24, 2025, De La Cruz announced staff mobile office hours scheduled for Jim Wells County on January 27th at Alice City Hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering assistance with federal agency issues. “Need help with a federal agency?
