U.S. Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz, who represents Texas’ 15th district, recently highlighted several initiatives and community engagements through her official social media account.

On August 14, 2025, De La Cruz announced measures related to water rights between Texas and Mexico: ” Texas Water Update: I secured provisions in the FY26 government funding bills to withhold funding from the Government of Mexico if they refuse to comply with the 1944 Water Treaty. We’re holding the Mexican government accountable for the water Texans are owed!” This statement refers to ongoing concerns about compliance with a decades-old treaty governing water distribution between the two countries.

The following day, on August 15, De La Cruz shared news of local economic development efforts: “Meadows Psychotherapy & Assessment, a health care services provider based in Edinburg, recently celebrated its ribbon cutting. Later that same day, she commented on legislative support for rural healthcare in South Texas: “I voted in support of the OBBB to support rural healthcare throughout South Texas!”

De La Cruz began representing Texas’ 15th district in Congress after replacing Vicente Gonzalez in 2023. She has won consecutive elections against Michelle Vallejo—first in 2022 by a margin of nearly nine percentage points and again in 2024 with an increased margin of victory.
