Rep. Monica De La Cruz, who represents Texas’ 15th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates on her legislative work and community initiatives through a series of posts on her official Twitter account.
On April 8, 2026, De La Cruz announced an extension for local students participating in the annual art contest: “Deadline Extended! Attention TX-15 high schoolers: The 2026 Congressional Art Competition is here! Submit your original artwork by April 17th. Check the link and details below for submission guidelines!”
The following day, she highlighted bipartisan efforts to improve services for seniors: “My bipartisan Improving Medicare Services Act of 2026 will improve the 1-800-Medicare call line and ensure seniors have access to reliable, high-quality support. Alongside @RepBarrett and @RepCorrea, we are committed to making sure seniors receive the dependable service they” (April 9, 2026).
De La Cruz also recapped her recent activities in South Texas on April 10: “It’s been an incredible week back home in South Texas. Watch the Minute with Monica for more on my work for our communities!”
De La Cruz has represented Texas’s 15th District since replacing Vicente Gonzalez in Congress in 2023. She won elections against Michelle Vallejo in both 2022 and 2024, securing over half the vote each time. Born in Brownsville in 1974 and currently residing in McAllen, De La Cruz holds a BBS from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
