U.S. Representative Monica De La Cruz, who serves Texas’ 15th district, recently addressed constituents through a series of posts on her social media account, focusing on water negotiations with Mexico and the ongoing government shutdown.
On October 10, 2025, De La Cruz announced progress in securing emergency resources for her district: “I secured $280 million in emergency aid and negotiated 420,000 acre-feet of water from Mexico to be delivered by the end of this month. But now it’s time to give our farmers and ranchers long-term certainty by tying the 1944 Water Treaty to the USMCA. Let’s make history together”.
Later that day, she commented on the federal government shutdown: “Democrat shutdown day 10. 10 days too many. #EndTheShutdown”.
On October 11, De La Cruz expressed gratitude toward former President Donald Trump for actions related to military pay during the shutdown and called for action from Senate Democrats: “Thank you, President Trump, for making sure our troops get their paychecks during the Democrat shutdown. It’s time for Senate Democrats to end the games, reopen the government, and get back to work for the American people.”
De La Cruz has represented Texas’ 15th congressional district since replacing Vicente Gonzalez in 2023. She won election victories against Michelle Vallejo in both 2022 and 2024.
