De La Cruz has represented Texas’s 15th District since replacing Vicente Gonzalez in 2023. She secured her congressional seat after defeating Michelle Vallejo in both the 2022 and 2024 general elections—winning by margins of approximately nine percentage points each time. Born in Brownsville, Texas in 1974, De La Cruz resides in McAllen and holds a degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
