U.S. Representative Monica De La Cruz, who serves Texas’ 15th district in Congress, recently highlighted her legislative efforts and community engagement through a series of social media posts.
On July 30, 2025, De La Cruz marked National Whistleblower Day by sharing information about her proposed legislation to support federal employees. She wrote, “It’s National Whistleblower Day! My legislation, the Whistleblower Protections Act, strengthens protections for HUD employees who come forward to report waste, fraud, and abuse. No one should face repercussions for doing the right thing.”
Later that day, she recognized a local business for its impact on the community. In a post dated July 30, 2025, De La Cruz stated: “Award-winning Ana Liz Taqueria recently celebrated its 4-year anniversary. To recognize this accomplishment, my office presented the taqueria with a special certificate of recognition for its contribution to the community and local economy.”
The following day on July 31, 2025, De La Cruz acknowledged her summer interns serving in Washington D.C., saying: “It’s National Intern Day! Our DC summer interns – Katelyn, Cooper, and Amanda – have shown commitment, passion, and service to South Texas this summer. Thank you for your hard work!”
De La Cruz assumed office in 2023 after defeating Michelle Vallejo in both the 2022 and 2024 general elections. In the most recent contest in 2024, she secured victory with approximately 57 percent of the vote compared to Vallejo’s nearly 43 percent; two years earlier she won by a margin of about nine percentage points. She succeeded Vicente Gonzalez as representative of Texas’ 15th district.
