On May 21, De La Cruz expressed her support for a significant legislative proposal aimed at enhancing border security. She stated, “Proud to stand with @CaucusMain in support of the One Big, Beautiful bill that invests in our border patrol agents, supports new border security technology, and institutes no tax on tips or overtime pay.”

Later that day, De La Cruz announced plans involving a local school group’s visit to Washington D.C., sharing that “Planning is underway for @McallenHigh’s Mariachi Oro to visit Washington, D.C.! Our office met with Superintendent Dr. Rene Gutierrez to discuss how we can make their time in the capital memorable.”

On May 22, she introduced a bill named after a Vietnam War hero from Edinburg. She posted, “Honored to introduce the Freddy Gonzalez Congressional Gold Medal Act to express our nation’s gratitude for Edinburg-Native, Sgt. Gonzalez’s sacrifices during the Vietnam War. As a member of the U.S. Marine Corps, Sgt. Gonzalez displayed heroism and courage.”

De La Cruz was born in Brownsville and graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a BBS degree.
