Rep. Monica De La Cruz, U.S. Congresswoman representing Texas’ 15th district, shared a series of posts on September 29, 2025, addressing legislative efforts and the looming threat of a government shutdown.

In her first post at 14:00 UTC, De La Cruz highlighted bipartisan legislation focused on public health initiatives: “Legislation Lowdown: Food Farmacy Act

This bipartisan bill will keep our communities and families healthy through education and expanded access to nutritious options!”

One hour later, as the possibility of a government shutdown approached, she criticized congressional Democrats for their handling of budget negotiations. On September 29, 2025, she wrote: “With a government shutdown just a day away, it’s Americans who are left paying the price. Democrats are playing high-stakes games with real lives – putting politics over paychecks, services, and economic stability.”

Later that evening at 23:13 UTC, De La Cruz called for an end to partisan disputes over funding: “Democrats have supported these funding levels before.

No more games. It’s time to fund the government.”

Monica De La Cruz has represented Texas’ 15th district in Congress since replacing Vicente Gonzalez in 2023. She won her seat by defeating Michelle Vallejo in both the 2022 and 2024 general elections.
In 2022, she secured victory with 53.3% of the vote compared to Vallejo’s 44.8%, and in 2024 she expanded her margin to 57.1% against Vallejo’s 42.9%.
