De La Cruz, born in Brownsville and currently residing in McAllen, is known for her focus on immigration reform, community outreach, and honoring local leaders.
On July 15, 2025, De La Cruz highlighted the historical significance of the Bracero Program for Texas agriculture and immigrant workers. She stated: “For decades, the Bracero Program supported Texas agriculture and provided millions of hard-working immigrants with the chance to achieve the American Dream. Proud to introduce efforts to reform, streamline, and expand access to the H-2A visa program to deliver solutions for”.
Later that day, at 15:00 UTC on July 15, De La Cruz called attention to severe flooding in Guadalupe County. She urged residents to report damages as a means of securing additional aid: “Attention Guadalupe County residents!
