Rep. Monica De La Cruz, U.S. Congresswoman representing Texas’ 15th district, addressed key legislative and constituent issues in a series of social media posts published on October 20 and 21, 2025.
On October 20, De La Cruz announced her nominations to the U.S. Service Academies: “I am proud to nominate up to 10 individuals to represent the 15th Congressional District of Texas in four of the five U.S. Service Academies.
An appointment to the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, or U.S. Merchant Marine Academy is a unique https://t.co/yDIPa1VkBv“.
The following day, she commented on ongoing federal budget negotiations and their impact on food assistance programs: “While Democrats play shutdown games, my constituents are worried about losing food stamps.
Hardworking Americans shouldn’t lose food assistance because of dysfunction in Congress. Thank you, @POTUS for working to keep WIC funded and families fed, while Senate Democrats refuse to https://t.co/tHNey7HaEU” (October 21).
Later that day, De La Cruz addressed the status of government funding negotiations: “It’s Shutdown Day 21. House Republicans passed a clean CR over a month ago, but Senate Democrats won’t do their jobs. While we’re ready to get back to work, they’re playing politics.” (October 21).
De La Cruz has served as the representative for Texas’ 15th district since 2023 after replacing Vicente Gonzalez. She won her seat in the general elections of both 2022 and 2024 against Michelle Vallejo, securing victory with 53.3% of the vote in 2022 and increasing her margin to 57.1% in 2024.
