Families in Texas’ 15th district are experiencing the effects of a government shutdown, according to recent posts by Rep. Monica De La Cruz, who represents the area in Congress.
On November 4, 2025, De La Cruz wrote, “Families across TX‑15 are feeling the impact of the government shutdown. I’m working every day to reopen government and ensure families, veterans, and small businesses get the support they need and deserve. My office is here to help constituents navigate any disruptions caused”.
Later that same day, she addressed water issues affecting local agriculture. In a post on November 4, 2025, De La Cruz stated, “South Texas farmers can’t wait another five years for Mexico to meet its water obligations. I’m calling on the Administration to ensure the 1944 Water Treaty is included in the USMCA so there are real consequences when Mexico doesn’t deliver.”
On November 5, 2025, De La Cruz turned her attention to veterans’ issues: “Every November, we pause to honor our Veterans and their families. I remain committed to ensuring they receive the support they have earned. Too many veterans face red tape when returning home, which is why I passed the Disabled Veterans Housing Support Act, ensuring that”.
De La Cruz has served as U.S. Representative for Texas’ 15th district since replacing Vicente Gonzalez in 2023. She won re-election in both 2022 and 2024 against Michelle Vallejo with increasing margins each cycle.
