On May 15, 2025, De La Cruz reminded local farmers and producers about the impending deadline for the Water Treaty Assistance Grant application. She stated “Attention STX Farmers and Producers! There is only ONE WEEK LEFT TO APPLY for the Water Treaty Assistance Grant, the emergency aid I fought for to support local farmers, ranchers, and producers impacted by Mexico’s failure to meet its water delivery under the 1944 Water Treaty.” This grant aims to provide financial assistance due to challenges stemming from international water agreements.

Monica De La Cruz was born in Brownsville, Texas in 1974 and currently resides in McAllen. She holds a Bachelor of Business Studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
