Rep. Monica De La Cruz, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 15th district since 2023, recently shared several updates via her social media platform on June 18, 2025.

In her first post, De La Cruz highlighted the entrepreneurial efforts of Al Treviño, who has opened two new eateries in the area over the past 60 days: Another Broken Egg and Sonic Crush. She noted that these businesses are expected to create local jobs and contribute positively to the economy.

Later that day, De La Cruz posted another update about an upcoming announcement regarding agricultural threats. She invited followers to tune in for a live session with Secretary Rollins for what she described as a “major announcement” aimed at combating the threat posed by the New World Screwworm.

The congresswoman’s final update was a follow-up to this announcement, detailing a significant financial commitment to address the issue. She stated that $8.5 million would be allocated to establish a sterile fly facility in Hidalgo County as part of efforts to prevent potential devastation of Texas livestock and wildlife due to the New World Screwworm infestation.

Born in Brownsville, Texas in 1974 and currently residing in McAllen, De La Cruz graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a BBS degree.
