Rep. Monica De La Cruz, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 15th district, shared several updates via social media on May 19, 2025. Her posts covered topics ranging from educational advancements to military appreciation and agricultural support.

On May 19, De La Cruz highlighted a significant development at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). She announced that “.@utrgv held a special ribbon-cutting ceremony to announce the addition of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Facility to the university’s growing inventory of business-driven programs.” This addition is expected to enhance UTRGV’s capabilities in providing industry-relevant education and research opportunities.

Later that day, De La Cruz acknowledged Military Appreciation Month by expressing gratitude towards service members. In her message, she stated, “May is Military Appreciation Month, a time to recognize the brave men and women who serve and sacrifice for our nation. Thank you for your dedication.”

In another post on May 19, Rep. De La Cruz addressed South Texas farmers and producers regarding emergency aid applications. She urged them to apply before the deadline: “Attention STX Farmers and Producers! The application for the emergency aid I secured closes this Thursday, May 22nd, at 11:59 p.m.” Emphasizing its importance, she added that “This funding is critical to support our agricultural industry and keep food on the table.”

Monica De La Cruz has served in Congress since replacing Vicente Gonzalez in 2023. Born in Brownsville in 1974 and residing in McAllen, she graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a BBS.
