Rep. Monica De La Cruz, a U.S. Congress member representing Texas’ 15th district since 2023, has been actively engaging with local businesses and legislative initiatives. Born in Brownsville, Texas, in 1974 and currently residing in McAllen, De La Cruz has focused her efforts on financial and housing reforms as part of her congressional duties.
On May 15, 2025, Rep. De La Cruz shared her experience meeting with representatives from McAllen-based GrainChainIO during her visit to Washington. She expressed her pleasure at the encounter through a tweet: “It was a pleasure to meet with representatives of McAllen-based @GrainChainIO last week in Washington.”
The following day, on May 16, 2025, she highlighted her work on the Financial Committee aimed at empowering the Federal Reserve to support local banks. In her tweet, she stated: “On @FinancialCmte, I’m working to ensure that the Fed has the power to support banks in our local communities. Proud to lead the Bringing the Discount Window into the 21st Century Act to improve the U.S. banking system, to ensure everyone can access capital.”
Later that morning on May 16, Rep. De La Cruz emphasized her commitment to affordable housing solutions for South Texas communities. She tweeted about her bipartisan efforts on the Financial Committee and mentioned a significant legislative achievement: “Proud to represent South Texas, where affordable housing is critical in our communities. On @FinancialCmte, I’m working towards bipartisan common-sense solutions, including my bill, the Disabled Veterans Housing Support Act, which passed out of the House.”
Monica De La Cruz holds a Bachelor of Business Studies degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
