U.S. Representative Monica De La Cruz, who serves Texas’s 15th district, recently highlighted local achievements and acts of service in a series of posts on her official social media account.

On July 16, De La Cruz recognized the actions of a Border Patrol officer during a critical incident: “When an active shooter opened fire at the Border Patrol annex facility in McAllen, Officer Ismael Garcia did not hesitate to jump into action. He placed himself directly in harm’s way to protect his fellow agents and save lives. Today, I was honored to recognize his service and” (July 16, 2025).

The following day, she acknowledged the efforts of a local business: “My team visited Visionary Printing in Pharr to present them with a Small Business Recognition Certificate. It is truly inspiring to witness the growth and success of small businesses just a few months following their launch. Congratulations on your hard work!” (July 17, 2025).

Also on July 17, De La Cruz paid tribute to a longtime medical professional: “For nearly three decades, Dr. James C. Lee cared for patients of all ages and served as a founding member, treasurer, and finance chair of the Guadalupe Regional Medical Foundation. Beloved by both patients and staff, Dr. Lee’s presence will be dearly missed. I was honored to” (July 17, 2025).

De La Cruz has represented Texas’s 15th district since 2023 after succeeding Vicente Gonzalez. She was born in Brownsville in 1974 and currently resides in McAllen. The congresswoman graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Business Studies.
