Rep. Monica De La Cruz, currently serving as the U.S. Congresswoman for Texas’ 15th district and Vice Chair of the Housing and Insurance Subcommittee, recently shared a series of posts on social media highlighting her work in housing policy, support for local businesses, and mental health awareness.
On September 9, 2025, De La Cruz expressed appreciation for an event hosted by Secretary Turner: “Thank you, @SecretaryTurner, for hosting the Innovative Housing Showcase on the National Mall! It was great to highlight my work as Vice Chair of the Housing and Insurance Subcommittee to help more Americans achieve their dream of homeownership.”
The following day, she recognized a longstanding business in her district: “As a Congresswoman, it is exciting to watch a small business transform into a local staple! Amigo Power Equipment has served the Edinburg Community for over 50 years, solidifying itself as the go-to power, recreational, and agricultural equipment supplier. Thank you to the” (posted September 10).
Also on September 10—World Suicide Prevention Day—De La Cruz addressed mental health issues: “Today, World Suicide Prevention Day, serves as a reminder that you are never alone. Together, we can break the stigma, raise awareness, and spread hope. If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis or needs help, call or text 988.”
De La Cruz assumed office in 2023 after replacing Vicente Gonzalez. She secured her seat by defeating Michelle Vallejo in both the 2022 and 2024 general elections. In 2022 she won with approximately 53% of the vote; in 2024 she increased her margin to over 57%.
