The following day, she recognized a World War II veteran’s centennial celebration. In her post dated September 2, she wrote: “It was a true honor to recognize U.S. Navy Veteran Charlie Willmann Sr. in front of a large crowd of friends, family, and community members for his incredible life milestone, his 100th birthday. Later that same day on September 2, De La Cruz honored Seguin City Councilwoman Sonia Mendez after her passing in 2024: “I had the privilege of presenting a Congressional Record honoring the life and legacy of Seguin City Councilwoman Sonia Mendez. De La Cruz has represented Texas’ 15th district since replacing Vicente Gonzalez in Congress in 2023. She secured election victories over Michelle Vallejo in both the 2022 and 2024 general elections.
