Rep. Monica De La Cruz, who represents Texas’ 15th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted several updates on her official social media account, focusing on legislative initiatives and local events.
On February 9, 2026, De La Cruz announced her support for new housing legislation by stating, “Proud to support @FinancialCmte’s Housing for the 21st Century Act! This common-sense, bipartisan legislative package – including three of my provisions – will help more Americans achieve their dream of homeownership!”
Shortly after, she addressed water rights advocacy with a message of partnership: “Thank you, @SecRollins! Together, we will fight for the water we’re owed.” The same evening, she referenced preparations for a regional event: “Gettin’ ready for STX Days!! “
De La Cruz has served in Congress since 2023 after replacing Vicente Gonzalez as the representative for Texas’s 15th District. She was born in Brownsville in 1974 and resides in McAllen. Before her current term, she won consecutive general elections against Michelle Vallejo—first in 2022 with 53.3% of the vote and again in 2024 with an increased margin of 57.1%. De La Cruz is a graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio.
