Monica De La Cruz, a U.S. Congress member representing Texas’s 15th District since 2023, recently shared her thoughts and activities on social media. Born in Brownsville, Texas, in 1974 and currently residing in McAllen, De La Cruz has been an advocate for small businesses and healthcare professionals.

On May 6, 2025, De La Cruz expressed her support for small businesses during National Small Business Week. She stated, “Happy National Small Business Week! Our South Texas community is home to amazing entrepreneurs who bring their unique passions and ideas to life. This week, we celebrate our small business owners and our commitment to supporting policies that help small businesses thrive!”

The following day, May 7, she mentioned a meeting with Dr. Aaron Salinas and members of the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA). In her post, she said, “I appreciated the opportunity for my team to meet with Dr. Aaron Salinas and members of the @ENAorg to discuss the challenges facing Texas’s emergency nurses. These frontline professionals play a vital role in saving lives, and I remain committed to supporting their work through”.

Later on May 7, De La Cruz highlighted Matt’s Building Materials as the Small Business of the Month for Texas’s 15th District during #SmallBusinessWeek. She noted their longstanding contribution by saying “During #SmallBusinessWeek, I am proud to recognize Matt’s Building Materials as the Small Business of the Month for Texas’s 15th District. Four generations of the Matt family have operated this business, and for over 50 years, they have supported South Texans as they rebuilt”.

De La Cruz holds a BBS from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
