Rep. Monica De La Cruz, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 15th district since 2023, recently shared several updates on her official Twitter account regarding community initiatives and engagements.

On May 13, 2025, Rep. De La Cruz announced that “The McAllen VA Clinic will host a free food drive for local Veterans this Thursday.” The initiative is aimed at assisting veterans facing food insecurity by providing essential groceries and pantry items. The food drive is open to veterans enrolled in the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend.

In another update on May 14, 2025, she stated that “Our office was pleased to assist @utrgv student, Azdruball Montemayor, with his passport application.” Rep. De La Cruz extended an invitation for others needing assistance with passport applications or other federal agency issues to contact her office at (956) 800-6069.

Later that day, she expressed gratitude towards students from St. John’s Episcopal School in McAllen for visiting the Capitol last week. She tweeted: “To the students of St. John’s Episcopal School in McAllen, thank you for visiting the Capitol last week and allowing me to speak with you about representing South Texas in the People’s House.”

Monica De La Cruz was born in Brownsville, Texas in 1974 and currently resides in McAllen. She graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a BBS.
