Rep. Monica De La Cruz, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 15th district, has been active on social media, sharing updates and expressing gratitude for recent developments. De La Cruz, who succeeded Vicente Gonzalez in 2023, uses her platform to inform constituents about key issues and events.
On May 12, 2025, Rep. De La Cruz announced that “American hostage Edan Alexander is finally free from Hamas after over 19 months in captivity.” She thanked President Trump for his leadership in securing Alexander’s release and extended her thoughts to his family and others awaiting reunification with their loved ones.
Later that day, she reported a significant decrease in border apprehensions, stating that “Southern Border apprehensions dropped OVER 90% from last April.” She attributed this decline to strong leadership and secure border policies.
On May 13, De La Cruz informed her constituents about upcoming mobile office hours hosted by her team in Brooks County. She invited those needing assistance with federal agencies to attend the event or contact her offices in McAllen or Seguin. “If you need help with a federal agency,” she wrote, encouraging engagement through various communication channels.
Monica De La Cruz was born in Brownsville, Texas in 1974 and resides in McAllen. She graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a BBS degree.
