Rep. Ryan Guillen, a Republican representing Texas’ 31st House district since 2003, recently highlighted the work of his legislative intern and marked significant events in a series of posts on social media.
On August 6, 2025, Guillen introduced one of his summer interns to the public, stating: “Meet Michael Bennett, one of our legislative interns working in the office this summer. He is from Houston, Texas, and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Government and in Economics with a minor in History at UT Austin. After graduation, he hopes to become a Diplomat or work at https://t.co/SG2qDDV7BQ”.
The following day, August 7, Guillen posted about Purple Heart Day: “Today, we honor the brave men and women who were wounded or made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. On Purple Heart Day, we remember their courage, their sacrifice, and their unwavering commitment to our freedom. #PurpleHeartDay #txlege https://t.co/SRraGDuLAu”.
On August 8, Guillen informed constituents about an upcoming state event: “Texas’ Back-to-School Tax-Free Weekend is August 8–10! Families can save on school supplies, clothing, and other essentials as they get ready for the new school year. A smart way to prepare while saving money. #txlege #BackToSchool #TaxFreeWeekend https://t.co/10ovNeTpHB”.
Guillen has served in the Texas State House since succeeding Judy Hawley in 2003. As a member of the Republican Party representing District 31, he regularly uses social media platforms to inform constituents about local events and recognize community members.
