Despite rampant unemployment during the COVID-19 pandemic, hundreds of jobs are available throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

Mike Gonzalez, Texas Workforce Solutions communications coordinator, said many of those positions have to do with locating coronavirus hot spots in the region.

Ideal candidates would be those who were furloughed or waiting on full-time recruitment at a former place of employment. Agriculture and telecommunications are among the industries rich with pandemic-related jobs.

Valley Central reported that at least 600 jobs were available this month.
