Enrollment at Sharyland ISD schools decreased by 2.7% compared to previous school year

There were 9,503 students enrolled in Sharyland ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 2.7% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 52.1% of them were boys, and 47.9% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 93.9% of the Sharyland ISD total enrollment.

Sharyland ISD roughly covers schools within Hidalgo County with its main office in Mission.

Among the 13 schools in Sharyland ISD, Sharyland High School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,490 students in the 2021-22 school year.

Texas is found to be one of the least-educated states in the U.S. A study from WalletHub ranked Texas 41st out of 50 states in terms of the quality of the educational system and how successful students were.

More than 5.4 million students are enrolled in public schools across Texas. Nearly one million of them live in rural areas where options for local public schools are few and far between.
