There were 566 students enrolled in La Villa ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 1.1% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.2% of them were girls, and 49.8% were boys.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 99.8% of the La Villa ISD total enrollment.

La Villa ISD roughly covers schools within Hidalgo County with its main office in La Villa.

Among the three schools in La Villa ISD, Jose Bernabe Munoz Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 243 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
