How many Hispanic students were enrolled in Edinburg CISD schools in 2022-23 school year?

There were 33,172 Hispanic students enrolled in Edinburg CISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 5.6% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Edinburg CISD schools welcomed 33,911 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Hispanic students comprised 97.8% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Edinburg CISD roughly covers schools within Hidalgo County and has a main office in Edinburg.

Among the 43 schools in Edinburg CISD schools, Economedes High School recorded the highest enrollment of Hispanic students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 2,755 students.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
