There were 32 white students enrolled in Rio Grande City CISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 60% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Rio Grande City CISD schools welcomed 9,644 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, white students comprised 0.3% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Rio Grande City CISD roughly covers schools within Starr County and has a main office in Rio Grande City.

Among the 15 schools in Rio Grande City CISD schools, Veterans Middle School recorded the highest enrollment of white students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of six students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
