There were 5,950 students enrolled in Vanguard Academy in the 2022-23 school year, 10.9% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.1% of them were girls, and 48.9% were boys.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 98.6% of the Vanguard Academy total enrollment.

Vanguard Academy roughly covers schools within Hidalgo County with its main office in Edinburg.

Among the five schools in Vanguard Academy, Vanguard Rembrandt recorded the highest enrollment of 1,873 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
