Enrollment Analysis: white students comprised 0.5% of Progreso ISD schools' student body in 2022-23 school year

There were seven white students enrolled in Progreso ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 16.7% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Progreso ISD schools welcomed 1,444 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, white students comprised 0.5% of the student body to be the least represented ethnicity in the district.

Progreso ISD roughly covers schools within Hidalgo County and has a main office in Progreso.

Among the five schools in Progreso ISD schools, Dorothy Thompson Middle School recorded the highest enrollment of white students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of five students.

Texas is found to be one of the least-educated states in the U.S. A study from WalletHub ranked Texas 41st out of 50 states in terms of the quality of the educational system and how successful students were.

More than 5.4 million students are enrolled in public schools across Texas. Nearly one million of them live in rural areas where options for local public schools are few and far between.
