Enrollment Analysis: multiracial students comprised 0% of Rio Grande City CISD schools' student body in 2022-23 school year

There were two multiracial students enrolled in Rio Grande City CISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 100% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Rio Grande City CISD schools welcomed 9,644 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, multiracial students comprised 0% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Rio Grande City CISD roughly covers schools within Starr County and has a main office in Rio Grande City.

Among the 15 schools in Rio Grande City CISD schools, Ringgold Middle School recorded the highest enrollment of multiracial students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of one student.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
