Starr County is now under a shelter in place order, Judge Eloy Vera announced, according to Valley Central.
In an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, all residents are expected to stay at home, with exceptions for trips to the grocery store, pharmacy or doctor.
Eateries and restaurants have also shut down their seating areas, but consumers can take advantage of the drive-thru, pick-ups, or have food delivered.
The stay at home order was initially scheduled to end at 11:59 p.m. on April 11, but that date could be extended.
The announcement continued and asked residents to, “Please address all questions to Starr County Judge Eloy Vera on Starr County Texas Facebook page or on Eloy Vera Starr County Judge Facebook page and all you questions will be answered in a timely manner. It is the policy of Starr County to provide transparency and accurate information.”
