City of Missouri issued the following announcement.

At their Monday, July 20 Virtual Regular Meeting, Councilmembers authorized the execution of a contract for a monitored cybersecurity solution; authorized the execution of a contract for the cleaning, decontamination, and repair of firefighter bunker gear; and approved an ordinance amending Chapter 16, Naming of City Property and City Programs, reducing the signature threshold to change existing street names.

Here is a rundown of all Council actions at the meeting:

Staff Reports:

• Staff presented Council with an update regarding the City of Missouri City master drainage plan.

Consent Agenda:

• Approved the minutes of the special and regular City Council meetings of July 6, 2020, and the special City Council meeting of July 13, 2020.
• Approved an ordinance amending the personnel policy of the City of Missouri City by establishing a notification process for employment claims against City Council’s appointed officials, establishing a time limit for reporting potential paycheck errors for city employees; requiring notification to the human resources department for certain employee absences.
• Approved an ordinance amending Chapter 62, Municipal Court, of the Missouri City Code; deleting provisions regarding certain municipal court fees.
• Approved a request by the Fort Bend County, Tax Assessor-Collector to record the City’s receipt of the 10/20-year write-offs for personal and real property taxes.

Authorizations:

• Authorized the execution of a lease agreement for copiers.
• Authorized the renewal of a software contract for Microsoft products.
• Authorized the execution of a contract for a monitored cybersecurity solution.
• Authorized the Mayor to sign a letter of approval for Angel EMS Inc. to operate a non-emergency ambulance service in the City of Missouri City.
• Authorized the execution of a contract for the cleaning, decontamination, and repair of firefighter bunker gear.

Ordinances:

• Approved an ordinance amending Chapter 16, Naming of City Property and City Programs; of the Missouri City Code; reducing the signature threshold to change existing street names.
• Considered the ordinance amending Chapter 62, Municipal Court, of the Missouri City Code; eliminating certain panels of the municipal court; providing duties for the presiding judge. Item did not move forward, as the motion made was withdrawn.

Once a resident signs up for public comments, he or she will be contacted by the City Secretary’s office with further details on how to login for the meeting. Residents are advised not to share the Zoom invitation with others, as only those who are signed up for public comments, presenters, staff and council will be allowed access to the meeting.
