81 percent of applicants to The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley were admitted for fall 2018

At The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, 84 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 57 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Edinburg enrolled 28,644 students in fall 2018, including 24,678 in undergraduate and 3,966 in graduate programs, data shows. 6.8 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

99 percent of undergraduates are residents of Texas. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as Hispanic or Latino (90 percent) and white (2 percent).

The school admitted 81 percent of the 11,191 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 50 percent enrolled.
