Event Information

Join Guardian columnist Marina Hyde and parliamentary sketch writer John Crace as they look back at a political year like no other.

About this Event

‘Brexit is done, except for the many big bits that aren’t’ wrote Hyde in January. Since then it’s been a year involving a devastating global pandemic, economic turmoil, and negotiating the UK’s exit from the EU - any one of which would put a government to the test.

But it is the job of political columnists and sketch writers to hold those in power to account. Hyde and Crace have covered it all - from Dominic Cummings’s infamous trip to Barnard Castle, to Matt Hancock (‘who should have taken a 100% pay cut months ago’) flip-flopping as health minister, and Boris Johnson’s ‘world-beating’ track and trace system.

Chaired by Guardian political editor, Heather Stewart, join us for this special livestreamed event with two of the Guardian’s most-loved writers, as they reflect on an extraordinary year in Westminster.

Running time: 60 minutes
