The City of Roma recently issued a stay-at-home curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., effective until at least April 13.
The curfew doesn't apply to those who work in the critical infrastructure industry, law enforcement, first responders, government workers, and people in essential businesses. The City Council also prohibited gatherings of more than 10 people.
Starr County, which already has an ordinance in place limiting the number of people at gatherings, is exploring a curfew or mandatory lockdown.
Starr County had two cases of COVID-19, including a 16-year-old, as of March 31.
Starr County has a testing facility in Rio Grande at the Starr County campus of South Texas College. A doctor’s referral, form of identification and proof of insurance is required. Individuals without insurance will be tested free of charge.
Texas Health and Human Services reported 3,266 cases in the state as of March 31, with 41 deaths reported.
Air travelers from the tri-state area near New York City, from New Orleans, and from California are among those who have been ordered by Gov. Abbott to self-quarantine for 14 days after arriving in Texas.
President Trump on March 29 extended the country’s voluntary lockdown until April 30.
