Fund

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD issued the following announcement.

Members of the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD (PSJA ISD) tri-city community and beyond will join forces in support of student scholarships for the Class of 2021 through the first-ever PSJA Family Day of Giving 2020 virtual fundraiser to launch Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020, during "Giving Tuesday".

PSJA ISD is mobilizing to help the PSJA Education Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt philanthropic organization comprised of mostly PSJA alumni, to continue providing scholarships to graduating seniors. To date, the organization has raised more than $1.7 million for scholarships, teacher grants, and literacy initiatives.

The goal of the PSJA Family Day of Giving, is to help them continue to make a difference within our PSJA Family.

Making history, the 48-hr virtual campaign will include support from dozens of PSJA Alumni coming together to help their community including: Hollywood Actor David Barrera, Broadway Designer Wilberth Gonzalez, Tejano stars Sarah Monique and Magali Delarosa, and Irma Alvarado, to name a few.

In addition, a school competition will be held to encourage all 43 PSJA ISD schools to come together as a true family in support of graduating seniors. Through Milestone Challenges, local businesses will also donate when specific amounts are raised throughout the campaign.

Nuri Restaurant in McAllen, locally owned by PSJA-alum Gabriel Fuentes, has already pledged their support.

The PSJA Family Day of Giving 2020 campaign will launch Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020, and run through December 2 at midnight. All proceeds will benefit PSJA ISD students through the PSJA Education Foundation.

On behalf of the PSJA ISD Class of 2021, all alumni and community members interested in giving back are invited to visit www.psjaisd.us/givingtuesday or contact the PSJA Communications Department at 956-586-2111.
