Monica De La Cruz discusses support efforts for South Texans' banks, food security, and agriculture

De La Cruz, born in Brownsville, Texas, and currently residing in McAllen, highlighted her meetings and discussions aimed at supporting local communities and industries.

On April 17, 2025, Rep. Monica De La Cruz posted about a meeting with Ford Sasser from Rio Bank. She emphasized the significant role community banks contribute to assisting South Texas families and small businesses.

Later on the same day, De La Cruz shared her experience touring the Rio Grande Valley Food Bank. As the 7th largest food bank in Texas, she discussed their initiatives in providing food assistance, nutrition education, and access to community services for South Texans.

Subsequently, Rep. De La Cruz posted about hosting a roundtable discussion in South Texas. This event focused on policies that are vital for the prosperity of farmers, farmworkers, and ranchers, including the H-2A program, which supports the agricultural workforce.

Monica De La Cruz, 48, graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Business Studies. She succeeded previous U.S. Congress member Vicente Gonzalez in 2023 and continues to be actively involved in her community.
